The 2024 parliamentary elections have marked a seismic shift in Ghana’s political scene, with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) unseating several prominent New Patriotic Party (NPP) Members of Parliament while consolidating key seats.

NDC Retains Key Strongholds

  • Krowor: Agnes Naa Momo Lartey (NDC) retained her seat with 39,198 votes, defeating Emmanuel Laryea Odai (NPP), who polled 23,116 votes.
  • Nkwanta-North: Oti Bless (NDC) secured a fourth term with 25,402 votes against NPP’s Mr. Nador, who garnered 22,733 votes.
  • Tamale North: Alhassan Suhuyini (NDC) polled 28,521 votes to secure re-election over his opponent’s 12,317 votes.
  • KEEA: Samuel Atta Mills (NDC) retained his seat with 30,220 votes, defeating Dennis Percyval Quaicoe (NPP), who managed 17,675 votes.
  • Tamale Central: Ibrahim Mutala Mohammed (NDC) won decisively with 52,263 votes against Sule Salifu (NPP), who secured 16,647 votes.
  • Wa Central: Rashid Pelpuo (NDC) retained his seat with 38,579 votes, overcoming Hajia Humu Awudu (NPP), who garnered 30,724 votes.
  • Klottey Korle: Zanetor Agyemang-Rawlings (NDC) was re-elected with 39,700 votes, defeating Valentino Nii Noi Nortey (NPP), who polled 23,558 votes.

Historic Gains for the NDC

  • Upper Denkyira East: Emelia Ankomah (NDC) flipped the traditionally NPP-held seat with 24,426 votes, defeating Dr. Awuah Kwofie (NPP), who garnered 18,895 votes.
  • Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese: Felix Ofosu Kwakye (NDC) secured victory with 30,607 votes, defeating Eric Kobina Nyanteh (NPP), who polled 19,598 votes.
  • Adansi Asokwa: Godwin Animli Dorgbadzi Dorani (NDC) unseated veteran MP KT Hammond with 14,229 votes to Hammond’s 13,275 votes.
  • Ablekuma West: Rev. Kweku Addo (NDC) defeated incumbent Ursula Owusu-Ekuful with 31,866 votes, compared to her 26,575 votes.
  • Ayawaso Central: Abdul Rauf Tongym Tubazu (NDC) won with 29,755 votes, defeating NPP’s Henry Quartey, who polled 23,345 votes.
  • Bortianor Ngleshie Amanfro: Okle Felix Akwetey (NDC) secured victory with 37,473 votes, ahead of Sylvester Tetteh (NPP), who obtained 27,888 votes.
  • Mfantseman: Prince Ebenezer Arhin (NDC) unseated Ophelia Mensah Hayford (NPP) with 35,832 votes.

NPP Holds Key Seats

  • Tano North: Gideon Boako (NPP) retained the seat with 21,127 votes, defeating Pious Opoku (NDC).
  • New Juaben South: Michael Okyere Baafi (NPP) won with 32,134 votes, defeating Dr. Martin Otu Offei (NDC), who garnered 23,735 votes.
  • Karaga: Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Adams (NPP) retained his seat with 28,155 votes, beating Sualihu Alhassan Dandawa (NDC), who polled 22,409 votes.
  • Akuapim North: Sammi Awuku (NPP) claimed victory with 28,365 votes, defeating John Evans Kumordzi (NDC), who polled 14,217 votes.

Notable Results

  • Awutu Senya East: Phyllis Naa Koryoo Okunnor (NDC) unseated incumbent Mavis Hawa Koomson (NPP), securing 50,886 votes to Koomson’s 46,638.
  • Adentan: Mohammed Adamu Ramadan (NDC) made history as the first MP to successfully retain the seat, polling 56,303 votes against Akosua Asaa Manu (NPP), who received 35,143 votes.

These results reflect a significant reconfiguration of Ghana’s political map, with the NDC making substantial inroads across the country.
