Award-winning sports broadcaster, Patrick Osei-Agyemang has called for national concern over Ghana’s lacklustre performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Ghana has failed to secure a medal at the ongoing Games.
In swimming, Harry Stacey was eliminated after finishing seventh in the Men’s 100m Freestyle last week, missing out on a chance to advance to the semi-finals in his Olympic debut.
Joselle Alice Mensah narrowly missed a semi-final spot in the Women’s 50m Freestyle, finishing fourth with a time of 26.81 seconds.
High jumper Rose Amoanimaa Yeboah also failed to progress, exiting after an unsuccessful attempt at 1.92m. Despite clearing 1.83m on her second attempt, she couldn’t advance further.
In the 100m, sprinters Azamati and Saminu reached the semi-finals but were unable to make it to the final.
On Thursday, Ghana’s 4×100 relay team was disqualified and did not advance to the final.
In response to these outcomes, Osei-Agyemang, who is the host of Fire-for-Fire on Adom TVÂ urged authorities to invest more in sports to support athletes and improve their performance on the international stage.
