2024 Elections is a choice between the future and the past – Sammi Awuku

-

The NPP Akuapem North Parliamentary Candidate, Sammi Awuku, has said the 2024 general elections represent a pivotal moment for Ghana, offering voters a choice between the future and the past.

Speaking on Joy News’ PM Express, Awuku framed the election as a contest of competing visions, with the NPP representing progress and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) symbolizing regression.

“This election is between Ghana’s past and Ghana’s future,” Awuku declared.

He argued that a vote for the NDC’s presidential candidate, John Mahama, would return the country to unaccountable governance, as the candidate would have only one term to deliver.

In contrast, the NPP’s candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, offers “bold solutions” and the opportunity for continuity.

“Bawumia becomes president and performs to the satisfaction of many Ghanaians,” he added.

Mr. Awuku acknowledged the economic challenges facing Ghana but maintained that these are global phenomena, exacerbated by events like the COVID-19 pandemic.

“What we have gone through is not just limited to the Ghanaian situation—it’s a global economic situation,” he said, stating that the NPP has not turned its back on the people despite the hardships.

He highlighted key achievements under the NPP, including the expansion of National Health Insurance enrollment from 11.3 million to 17.5 million people and the implementation of free senior high school (SHS) education.

“Regardless of the challenges, the Free SHS policy has been one of the single most important interventions in our nation’s history,” Sammi Awuku noted.

He contrasted these accomplishments with the perceived failures of the NDC, urging voters to prioritize the future.

“This is not a government that bows when there are challenges. It’s a government that always looks into the future,” he said, describing the NPP as forward-looking and committed to delivering sustainable development for Ghanaians.
