2024 election: You must publicly apologise for NPP’s defeat – Akufo-Addo told [Audio]

Ghanaian musician and political activist, Kwame A Plus, has called on President Akufo-Addo to publicly apologise to the New Patriotic Party(NPP) for their loss in the 2024 election.

The newly elected MP for Gomoa Central in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen without mincing words declared President Akufo-Addo the caused the humiliating defeat.

“Akufo-Addo caused Bawumia’s loss. The anger against him is the reason people voted against Bawumia. He has refused to listen to advice. Why would you decide to tax sports betting?

“He is not a good leader because he couldn’t have control over the party. This election was a protest vote. He should go home, sit down and analyse the party he is leaving behind. Everybody wanted Ken Ofori-Atta to go but he didn’t listen because he had his interest. Akufo-Addo must publicly tell NPP that he is sorry because he and his people have really benefitted. He must take responsiblity because that’s what leaders do,” he stated.

The Electoral Commission (EC) on Monday, December 9 declared former President John Mahama as the winner of the 2024 presidential election without the results from nine constituencies.

The EC Chairperson, Jean Mensa stated the outfit was yet to receive the results.

However, after collating results nationally, her outfit believes the results from the outstanding constituencies will not affect the general outcome.

Based on the results received from 267 constituencies, the National Democratic Congress(NDC) flagbearer, obtained 6,328,397, constituting 56.55%.

His close contender, the NPP’s Presidential Candidate Dr Mahamudu Bawumia secured 4,657,304 votes, comprising 41.61%.
