2024 election: Wenchi residents defy rains to welcome Bawumia

-

Thousands of residents in Wenchi defied the rain and waited for over eight hours to give a rousing welcome to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, as he concluded his tour of the Bono Region on Sunday night.

The rally, which started building momentum around 3:pm, saw crowds gather from across the town, despite the rains.

Supporters filled the streets, donning party colours and waving flags, eager to hear from Dr Bawumia, who had spent the day campaigning in the Banda and Tain Constituencies.

When Dr. Bawumia finally addressed the crowd, he was greeted with energetic chants and songs.

The Vice President delivered a fiery speech, taking aim at former President John Dramani Mahama.

Dr. Bawumia accused the former leader of mismanaging key sectors of the economy during his tenure from 2012 to 2017, drawing applause from the charged crowd.

The event in Wenchi marked the conclusion of Dr. Bawumia’s tour of the Bono Region, which he began last week.

His tour is part of the NPP’s efforts to galvanize support ahead of the 2024 elections, with Wenchi reaffirming its position as a critical battleground.

Wenchi’s show of solidarity signals renewed hope for the NPP in reclaiming its parliamentary seat, with parliamentary candidate Kojo Frempong joining forces with Dr. Bawumia in rallying support.
