The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has accepted the electoral outcome of the 2024 general elections.
In a public broadcast from his residence on Sunday morning, he stated that Ghanaians have spoken and he respects the will of the people.
The Electoral Commission(EC) is yet to officially announce the results and declare the winner of the 2024 election.
However, provisional results indicate that Dr Bawumia is trailing significantly behind the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, John Dramani Mahama, in what is shaping up to be a decisive defeat for the ruling party.
Dr. Bawumia disclosed that he called Mr. Mahama to convey his congratulations, acknowledging the decision of the Ghanaian people.
“I said during the signing of the peace pact that I was sure of two things: Ghana will win, and peace will reign.
“The people have spoken, and we, as the New Patriotic Party (NPP), respect the will of the masses. I respect the decision of Ghanaians, I took this decision to stop the growing tension,” he said.
He urged all supporters to remain calm and prioritize the peace and stability of our nation.
Dr. Bawumia’s message underscores the NPP’s commitment to democracy and its respect for the collective decision of the electorate.
