The National Chairman of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Samson Asaki Awingobit is optimistic about their presidential candidate being on the ballot for the December 7 elections.
The PNC’s candidate, Bernard Mornah was among 11 others who were disqualified by the Electoral Commission (EC) after vetting of nomination forms for the 2024 election.
The EC Chairperson, Jean Mensa explained that the parties failed to correct errors on their nomination forms.
But in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Tuesday, Mr Awingobit stated that the party would overcome the current challenges and ultimately be included on the ballot paper.
Recounting this was not the first time the PNC has been disqualified, history will repeat itself and the candidate will be included.
“In 2016, the EC used the same strategy to disqualify PPP and PNC, we went to won and we were brought back. So there is precedent and history will repeat itself. We will be on that ballot,” he said.
This comes a few days after Mr Mornah made similar statements about his disqualification.
He said the disqualification came as a significant setback for his presidential ambitions but that it is not the end of the road.
