Greater Accra Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Divine Agorhom, says they remain resolute and determined to reclaim lost parliamentary seats on December 7.
The party lost so many parliamentary seats in the 2020 general election in the Greater Accra Region compared to their performance in 2016.
Currently, the NPP holds 14 out of the total 34 seats, while the National Democratic Congress (NDC) holds 20.
In an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, Mr. Agorhom acknowledged that several issues, including demonstrations, led to the NPP’s loss of several seats.
However, he is optimistic these issues have been addressed with a new strategy that has set the NPP on the victory path.
“NDC has 20 seats, and NPP has 14, but before the NDC’s 20 seats, they had 13, and we had 21. So the 21 has been a minimum target, and once we have won those seats before, we seek to reclaim them.
“We lost Tema East, Krowor, Ablekuma Central, Okaikwei North, Adentan, Madina, Ledzokuku, and for the first time, we won Amasaman. In 2024, we will win at least 21 seats,” he stated.
He added that the overall goal is to snatch additional seats from the NDC. With 11 days to the election, the party is actively working towards that.
For the presidential election, Chairman Agorhom noted that given the enormous work done by the Akufo-Addo government, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has an upper hand.
