2024 election: Miracles Aboagye disagrees with Kyei-Mensah on Bawumia’s performance [Audio]

The Communications Director of the 2024 Bawumia campaign, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has refuted claims that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, would have secured only 30% of the vote if the 2024 election had been held in August.

Former Majority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu made this assertion in an interview with Nhyira FM while reflecting on the NPP’s significant electoral loss.

As chairman of the NPP’s manifesto committee, he admitted that Dr. Bawumia’s campaign lacked the expected enthusiasm.

However, speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, Aboagye strongly disagreed.

“It is his view, but I disagree because every election has its dynamics, and I don’t know the basis of his position. I haven’t heard him say that, but if he did, then respectfully, I disagree; I don’t share his view. That cannot represent anything,” he stated.

Dr. Bawumia polled 4,877,611 votes (41.75%) in the election, while his main contender, John Mahama, secured 6,591,790 votes (56.42%).

Findings from the Ashanti Region highlighted key factors contributing to the NPP’s loss, including the party’s internal delegate system for selecting leaders, which affected grassroots mobilisation, and prevailing economic hardships that eroded public confidence.
