2024 election: Exclusive photos as 8 presidential aspirants file nomination forms

Eight presidential aspirants on Monday September 9, 2024 filed their presidential nomination forms for the 2024 election.

They include flagbearers of the two dominant political parties; New Patriotic Party(NPP) and the National Democratic Congress(NDC); Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and John Dramani Mahama respectively.

Dr Bawumia filed the nomination himself in the company of his running mate, Dr Matthew Opoku-Prempeh, their wives as well as NPP bigwigs.

For Mr Mahama, the NDC National Chairman; Johnson Asiedu Nketia accompanied by the General Secretary; Fifi Kwetey, Director of IT and Elections, Dr Edward Omane Boamah among others filed it on his behalf.

The others were; Percival Kofi Akpaloo, leader and founder of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), Nana Kwame Bediako; The New Force Movement, George Twum-Barima the Ghana Union Movement(GUM) leader, Christian Kwabena Andrews and Yellow Ghana’s Samuel Apea-Danquah.

The rest were: Hassan Ayariga of All People’s Congress  (APC).

Mr Akpaloo, Mr Apea-Danquah and Nana Bediako popularly known as Cheddar filed their nominations at the Electoral Commission (EC) office on Monday.

They were received by the EC Chairperson, Jean Mensa and other members.

The General Secretary of GUM filed the nomination on behalf of Mr Andrews. With about 30 presidential aspirants seeking to contest the race, the EC will in the coming days receive more nominations, which will be subjected to scrutiny and vetting by a special committee.
