The 2024 Presidential candidate for the People’s National Convention (PNC), Bernard Mornah, has said the Electoral Commission (EC) is not prepared and ready to conduct the December 7 election.
According to him, the EC is just using him [Bernard Mornah] and the PNC as the pretext for its unpreparedness.
Mr Mornah said this on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Friday, while speaking on his disqualification from the presidential race.
He is currently challenging his disqualification which he says is unjust at the Accra High Court with the case was adjourned October 16, 2024.
Mr Mornah stated that, part of his affidavits is requesting that the EC should not proceed with any other processes including printing of ballot.
He therefore finds it hard to believe why the EC will go ahead to issue letters to political parties for the start of ballot papers printing.
“Some of the reliefs we are seeking in court is for the EC carrying out duties towards preparation and per their statements in court, I realised they were unprepared and not ready and want to use I and the PNC as the pretext,” he said.
“How does the EC announce to the political parties to bring their agents because they have selected vendors for the printing of the ballot papers when they haven’t finalised the register?” he quizzed.
For now, Mr Mornah remains resolute that he will be included on the ballot paper and the EC cannot move forward without addressing his concerns.
