The Oti Regional Chairman of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), urged Ghanaians to consider alternatives to the long-standing dominance of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
According to Rashid Alao, the choice between the NPP and the NDC has become a troubling dilemma for many citizens.
He noted that, since the era of Kwame Nkrumah, the nation has witnessed a series of leadership failures that have left Ghanaians disillusioned and yearning for genuine progress.
The chairman addressing the delegates after the presidential primaries in Nkwanta South in the Oti Region, emphasized that the CPP with its rich history and commitment to social justice, is poised to offer Ghanaians a viable alternative to the status quo.
The Convention People’s Party (CPP) held it congress across the country to select a flagbearer for the 2024 elections this December.
The two aspirants for the position are former Chairman Nana Frimpomaa Sarpong Kumankumah and legal practitioner, Frimpong Yaw Anokye.
Out of a total number of 40 delegates vote cast, Frimpong Yaw Anokye polled 21 votes while Nana Frimpomaa Sarpoong Kumankumah polled 19 respectively
Rashid Alao, argued that both the NPP and NDC have consistently prioritized their political survival over the welfare of the people, leading to widespread dissatisfaction and economic hardship.
“It is time for Ghanaians to recognize that they have a choice beyond the two dominant parties that have failed them for decades,”
The CPP chairman urged citizens to rally behind the party’s vision of a more equitable and prosperous Ghana, one that prioritizes the needs of the people over political expediency.
He called on party members and supporters to engage in grassroots mobilization efforts, emphasizing the importance of reaching out to communities and addressing their concerns directly.
Speaking in an interview with Adom news Obrempongba after the presidential primaries some party members revealed that, CPP aims to capitalize on the growing sentiment among Ghanaians who are tired of the political duopoly that has characterized the country’s governance.
They are of the view that with a renewed focus on grassroots activism and a commitment to the principles of Nkrumah, the CPP is determined to challenge the entrenched powers and offer a fresh perspective for the future of Ghana.
