2024 election: Bernard Mornah makes shocking revelation

-

The 2024 Presidential candidate for the People’s National Convention (PNC), Bernard Mornah has reiterated that the Electoral Commission (EC) had no valid reason to disqualify him.

Mr Mornah is insisting that, he fulfilled all the constitutional requirements for eligibility.

In an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Friday, Mr Mornah disclosed that, he was the only person among the 24 candidates who submitted a criminal record report to the EC.

According to him, it was a requirement for all of them but he was the only person who fulfilled it and even went ahead to submit that of his Vice Presidential candidate.

Mr Mornah was one of 11 presidential aspirants disqualified from contesting the December 7, elections.

In expressing his dissatisfaction, he is currently challenging the disqualification, asking the EC to restore and include him on the ballot paper.

Mr Mornah said the 1992 Constitution requires a presidential candidate to be at least 40 years old, of sound mind, and a registered voter; qualifications he met.

“The other requirement in the constitution is that you must declare that you don’t have a criminal record and with that, of all the presidential candidates, I can say with the vim at my command that I am the only who went to the Ghana Police Service for the CID to conduct its investigations and run the checks.” he said.

He indicated that, in a conversation with some candidates, they were surprised when they heard he went through all those processes.

Apart from that, he stated he submitted his birth certificate, Ghana card and passport as proof of his citizenship and duly fulfilled all requirements.

In this regard, Mr. Mornah is convinced he met all the substantive requirements of a presidential candidate.
