2024 election: Akpaloo, Cheddar and 3 other independent candidates file nomination forms [Photos]

Five independent presidential candidates have formally filed their nominations to contest the 2024 elections.

They include Percival Kofi Akpaloo, leader and founder of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), Nana Kwame Bediako; The New Force Movement, George Twum-Barima the Ghana Union Movement(GUM) leader, Christian Kwabena Andrews and Yellow Ghana’s Samuel Apea-Danquah.

Mr Akpaloo, Mr Apea-Danquah and Nana Bediako popularly known as Cheddar filed their nominations at the Electoral Commission (EC) office on Monday.

They were received by the EC Chairperson, Jean Mensa and other members.

However, the General Secretary of GUM filed the nomination on behalf of Mr Andrews.

This was after New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia filed his nomination earlier in the day.

National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Mahama is also expected to file at 2pm.

Meanwhile, the EC has hinted over 20 independent candidates have picked up forms for the election, which means a lot more nominations will be expected in the coming days.
