The fourth round of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League ended with several surprising outcomes across various stadiums.
On Saturday, Accra Lions secured a commanding 3-1 victory over Nsoatreman FC at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.
Salman Faris opened the scoring in the 9th minute, and Ezekiel Alladoh doubled the lead just seven minutes later.
Nsoatreman’s Abdul Rahman pulled one back in the 47th minute, but Blessing Asuman sealed the win for Accra Lions with a goal in the 66th minute.
Sunday’s fixtures saw Nations FC battle to a goalless draw with Hearts of Oak at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex.
Berekum Chelsea and Asante Kotoko also shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw at Golden City Park.
Michael Kyei Dwamena gave Kotoko an early lead in the 2nd minute, but Zakaria Fuseini equalized for Chelsea in the 61st minute.
Bechem United delivered an upset, defeating Dreams FC 1-0 at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park.
Meanwhile, Holy Stars suffered a 2-1 home defeat to Medeama SC at the Crosby Awuah Memorial Stadium. After a goalless first half, Kamaradini Mamudu put Medeama ahead in the 58th minute, but Issah Yakubu levelled for Holy Stars.
Just five minutes later, Diawisie Taylor scored to secure Medeama’s win and maintain their perfect record.
At the Wenchi Sports Stadium, Young Apostles pulled off a shocker by defeating two-time champions Aduana FC 3-2. Rahman Rulf Abdul was the hero for Young Apostles, scoring a brace to clinch their first Premier League win.
Aduana’s Mohammed Muftawu opened the scoring, and Emmanuel Marfo netted twice for the visitors, but Abdul’s late goals turned the tide in favor of the home team.
Heart of Lions were held to a 0-0 draw against Bibiani Gold Stars at the Kpando Sports Stadium, while Legon Cities endured a 2-0 defeat at home against Karela United at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.
Goals from Giyasu Ibrahim and Muhammed Hadi in the 14th and 88th minutes, respectively, handed Karela the much-needed win. This result leaves Legon Cities without a win after four matches.
Finally, at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena, FC Samartex narrowly defeated Vision FC 2-1, surviving a late challenge.
Edward Agyemang’s own goal initially put Samartex ahead, but he redeemed himself by scoring the equalizer.
However, Michael Ephson netted a 92nd-minute winner to secure the three points for the Timber giants.
As the table stands, Medeama SC, Bibiani Gold Stars, Heart of Lions, and Nations FC occupy the top four spots, while Dreams FC, Young Apostles, and Legon Cities find themselves in the relegation zone.
