Matchday 19 of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League concluded with thrilling encounters across various stadiums, delivering surprising results and key victories.
At the University of Ghana Sports Stadium on Saturday, Hearts of Oak battled to a narrow 1-0 win over Heart of Lions. After a goalless first half, Mawuli Wayo’s 51st-minute strike proved to be the match-winner.
On Sunday, Vision FC mounted a comeback to defeat Accra Lions 2-1 at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex. Yao Sokpoli put the visitors ahead in the 8th minute, but Emmanuel Akansase equalized in the 79th minute. Just when the match seemed destined for a draw, Isaac Opoku Agyemang converted a late penalty to seal the win for Vision FC.
At the Aliu Mahama Stadium, Karela United claimed a 2-1 victory over Berekum Chelsea. Alhassan Adamu’s brilliant brace (12th and 48th minutes) gave the hosts control before Kwasi Fosu pulled one back for Chelsea.
Asante Kotoko’s unbeaten run came to an end at the Nana Kronmansah Park, where they fell 1-0 to Nsoatreman FC. Gabriel Bonnah’s 81st-minute goal secured a vital win for the home side. Despite the loss, Kotoko remain top of the table with 34 points.
Medeama SC edged Legon Cities 1-0 at the TNA Park, with Nurudeen Abdulai scoring the only goal in the 70th minute.
At the Nana Agyemang Badu Park, Aduana FC secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Bechem United in the Bono Derby, thanks to Kelvin Obeng’s early 8th-minute goal.
Meanwhile, at the Tuba Astro Turf, Dreams FC earned a 2-1 win against Basake Holy Stars. Abdul Razak Salifu put the home side ahead before Emmanuel Kwame equalized. However, veteran forward Joseph Esso stepped up to score the winner, boosting his side’s survival hopes.
Defending champions FC Samartex were held to a goalless draw by Bibiani GoldStars at the DUN’s Park, while Young Apostles stunned Nations FC with a 2-1 win at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex. Emmanuel Kontor and Ramzy Abubakar struck for the visitors before Razak Simpson pulled one back for Nations FC.
Asante Kotoko, Bibiani GoldStars, Heart of Lions, and Hearts of Oak occupy the top four spots. Meanwhile, Karela United, Legon Cities, and Accra Lions find themselves in the relegation zone.
