Saturday’s Action:
Accra Lions secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Medeama SC at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium. A 71st-minute penalty by Lucky Nwafor was enough to seal the win for the home side in a hard-fought encounter.
Sunday Highlights:
Asante Kotoko continued their fine form with a crucial 1-0 victory over Karela United at the Baba Yara Stadium. After a goalless first half, Justice Blay converted a 64th-minute penalty, a result that elevated Kotoko to the top of the league standings.
At the Ampain AAK II Sports Arena, Basake Holy Stars and Hearts of Oak played out an entertaining goalless draw, with both teams unable to find the back of the net.
Meanwhile, Bechem United maintained their impressive home record with a 2-0 triumph over Nations FC at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park. Isaiah Nyarko’s 27th-minute strike gave Bechem the lead, and Emmanuel Abban’s 85th-minute goal sealed the victory.
Young Apostles added to Nsoatreman FC’s struggles with a 1-0 win at the Wenchi Sports Stadium. Emmanuel Fosu Kyei’s 55th-minute goal proved decisive.
Berekum Chelsea also delivered a dominant home performance, beating Vision FC 1-0 courtesy of Emmanuel Sarpong’s 28th-minute strike.
Heart of Lions bounced back to winning ways with a 2-1 victory against Aduana Stars at the Kpando Sports Stadium. Kwesi Pong opened the scoring in the 52nd minute before Asante Seedorf Afful doubled the lead. Aduana’s Alex Boakye pulled one back in the 86th minute, but it was too little, too late.
FC Samartex and Dreams FC played out a 1-1 draw at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena. Mohammed Alhassan Mankuyeli gave Samartex the lead just after halftime in the 46th minute, but Dreams FC equalized through Joseph Esso in the 77th minute.
In the final game of the round, Legon Cities stunned in-form Bibiani GoldStars with a 1-0 victory at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium. Fredrick Akatuk’s 52nd-minute strike boosted Legon Cities’ hopes of escaping the relegation zone.
