The 2024/25 Ghana Premier League kicked off with exciting results across different venues on Matchday 1.
The action started on Saturday with Dreams FC holding defending champions FC Samartex to a goalless draw at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Debutants Vision FC also played to a stalemate, sharing the points with Berekum Chelsea at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex.
Sunday’s games brought surprises, with Hearts of Oak falling 1-0 to league newcomers Basake Holy Stars at the Accra Sports Stadium. Prince Tweneboah’s early goal in the second minute sealed the victory for the visitors.
At the Naa Sheriga Sports Complex, Asante Kotoko earned a 1-0 away win over Karela United thanks to a goal from Albert Amoah.
Nsoatreman FC began their campaign with a 2-0 home win against newly promoted Young Apostles at Nana Professor Koromansa II Park. Mohammed Abdul Rahaman and Collins Kudjoe scored in each half to secure the victory.
Aduana FC had to settle for a 1-1 draw against Heart of Lions at Nana Agyemang Badu Park. Mustapha Yakubu gave the away side the lead, but Emmanuel Marfo equalized late for the hosts, ensuring a point for the two-time champions.
Bibiani Gold Stars claimed a 2-1 victory over Legon Cities at DUN’s Park. Kumi Attah opened the scoring early in the 3rd minute, and although Denis Adoma equalized for Legon Cities, Gideon Anaba netted the winning goal for Gold Stars.
Nations FC and Bechem United played out a goalless draw at the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex.
The weekend’s final game saw Medeama SC edge Accra Lions 1-0 at the T&A Park, with Osah Bernardinho Tetteh converting a penalty in the 55th minute to secure the win.
