Asante Kotoko had to settle for a 1-1 draw against FC Samartex in their Matchday 24 encounter at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena in the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League.
Reigning champions Samartex took the lead in the 39th minute through Dramani Awuah. They nearly doubled their advantage, but Kotoko’s goalkeeper, Frederick Asare, made a crucial save to deny Alhassan Munkuyali.
Kotoko responded swiftly after the break, leveling the score just two minutes into the second half, thanks to Kwame Opoku, who bagged his sixth goal of the season.
The Porcupine Warriors had a golden opportunity to take the lead when Dauka Saaka found himself with an open-net chance, but he sent his effort over the bar.
Despite the draw, Prosper Narteh Ogum’s side remains at the top of the table with 38 points, though their position could be affected by other weekend fixtures. Meanwhile, Samartex sit in ninth place with 28 points.
In Matchday 25 action, Asante Kotoko will host Young Apostles at the Baba Yara Stadium, while FC Samartex will face Medeama SC at the TNA Park.
