2022 WCQ: Ghana will emerge as group winners, says Black Stars defender

-

Former Ghana defender, John Paintsil has emphatically said the Black Stars will finish as group winners in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Ghana finds themselves in a tricky group alongside South Africa, Zimbabwe and Ethiopia in Group G.

With the qualifiers set start on October 5, the former West Ham and Fulham ace believes Ghana will emerge as group winners.

“You take a look at our group and it’s obvious that Ghana will easily qualify and top Group G,” he told Nhyira FM.

“Ghana have been there before and with the experience of playing in three World Cups, there is no way the Black Stars can’t qualify.”

The Legon Cities FC scout also reiterated that CK Akonnor has the qualities to coach the Black Stars.

Akonnor has been named as the new head coach of the Black Stars on a two year deal.

“CK Akonnor has the experience to coach the Black Stars. Before he will be given the job, he was the assistant coach to Kwesi Appiah.

“He has coached top local teams and with the experience he has, there is no way he cannot succeed as the head coach of the Black Stars,” he added.

Akonnor will be assisted by David Duncan.
