A number of artists and several other personalities in the showbiz industry including Kwaw Kese, Iso Perley, Kofi Asare Brako Abattey, Toxic, Christian Agyei Frimpong, have commended the 2018 highlife DJ of the year Oyokodehye Kofi for having recognized the role of aged highlife musicians in the Ghana and has shown his appreciation to some of them.
Most of the Highlife legends believe that if recognition and honour is given to most of the artists just as Oyokodehye Kofi has done, it would help boost the moral and inspire the up and coming ones to treat the profession with all the dignity it deserves and by so doing take the Ghanaian music very far.

The people gave the commendation at a ceremony in Tema which was organized by the 2018 Highlife DJ of the year, Oyokodehye Kofi of Accra FM known in private life as Eric Owusu Gyimah to show recognition and appreciation to three aged highlife musicians and as well honour them for their immense to nation building through music and entertainment.
The artists; Teacher Kofi Boateng of Oheneba Song fame, Chief Kofi Sammy of ‘Yellow Sisi fame and Baffour Kyei of Adwoa Bene fame were given some citation, cash donation and hampers in their honour amidst live band music as well as dining and wining.
Oyokodehye Kofi later in an interview partly attributed his success as a DJ for the past 14 years to some of the highlife artists and has confirmed that they together with his fans have played a major role leading to his emergence as the Highlife DJ of the year hence the need to celebrate them and to show some level of appreciation.

He also expressed his profound gratitude to some organizations such as Oheneba Kasempa Ent (Original Abensuo Drink), T. T. Brothers (Uncle T Malt), Royal Crown Co. Ltd, The Place Bar and Restaurant, JL Herbal Centre, Class Media Group and Pantita Thai Massage and Spa for their support to making the programme a success.
