Police in Accra has arrested some 16 women suspected to be involved in prostitution.
They were arrested as part of a swoop conducted by the Cantonment Police Command Sunday night at Danquah circle and Togo Embassy.

The swoop is aimed at ridding the area of suspected criminals after countless reports of robbery attacks in the area.
Joy News Justice Baidoo who followed the police swoop reported that, out of the sixteen, 10 are Nigerians, five Ghanaians and a Liberian.

He said the suspects were arranged before the Accra Metropolitan Assembly Court in Accra.
Justice noted that the suspects pleaded guilty to the offence and were fined GH₵300 or face three months prison term.

The court, however, cautioned women to refrain from prostitution because it is a criminal offence in Ghana.
