A 14-year-old girl [name withheld] is alleged to have been sexually assaulted by her auntie’s husband in the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis, leaving her with multiple infections.
Anthony Gada is alleged to have defiled the girl, an orphan, on several occasions. Though he was arrested by the Police last Friday, June 21, he was released the next day after he allegedly bribed the police.
For the past two-and-a-half-years, the victim has been staying with her auntie, during which period Gada was said to have taken advantage to sexually assault the girl.

The alleged defilement did not come to light until the victim fell ill and taken to the Spring Clinic at Ntankoful last Friday, June 21 for medical attention.
Sources at the Clinic told 3news.com Thursday that a medical examination revealed the girl had been defiled and has contracted multiple infections.
She was subsequently questioned during which she mentioned Gada as the one who has been defiling her, the sources told Media General journalist, Nhyiraba Paa Kwesi Simpson, who is the host of Omanbapa on Connect FM.
The girl is said to have been forced to stop school due to the nature of the infection.
Doctors on duty at the Clinic reported the case to the Police who moved in to arrest Gada, but the sources say Gada bribed the police leading to his unconditional release on Saturday, June 15.

Nhyiraba Paa Kwesi Simpson on Wednesday reported the matter to the Department of Gender and Children in the Western Region which has since taken up the case.
The Department followed up on the matter at the Western Regional Police Headquarters which confirmed the case was reported at one of its District Commands.
‘Flimsy excuse’ by Police
According to the Police, the suspect was released because there was no medical report to back the claims of the victim.
But the Spring Clinic has expressed surprise at the excuse given by the police, contending that it was the police which ought to have issued either the victim or her relatives with the police medical report form.

According to the Clinic it is only when the form has been submitted to them that a gynaecologist specialist will conduct a thorough examination on the victim to issue the report.
It said when the police came to the Clinic, they were explicitly told that if the case would have to go to court, they would have to issue a medical report form to the victim for the examination to be conducted before a report could be written.
“The Police have done disservice to the girl because if they wanted a medical report I told them from the beginning, they have to issue a medical report form and then a specialist gynaecologist will write his findings,” a doctor who spoke on condition of anonymity told 3news.com
