The police in the Central Region has arrested 130 suspected criminals in a swoop at Gomoa Budumburam.
The swoop was carried out at the crime-prone area in the early hours of Sunday in an effort to rid the locality of criminals.
At least three of the suspects are said to be on the police wanted list.
“We are going to screen them and those who have issues with us, we will deal with them,” Kasoa Divisional Police Commander, ACP David Agyeman Djem, told the press.
“So far, we have identified about three or four of them who are on our wanted list and those who have cases with us that are in court. We will profile the others and see if any of them has recorded with the police,” he added.
According to him, the suspects were found with Tramadol, canabis and other substances.
“At the end of the swoop, we had some drugs and some powdery substances. We will send all of them to the laboratory and examine them. Those who have flouted the law and are in possession of these exhibits would be taken through the due process,” he added.
The officer further indicated that the police was ready to combat crime and urged the general public to provide the outfit with the necessary information since policing is a collective endeavour.
“We have entered a new phase in policing in Kasoa and we are not going to allow any miscreant to make our lives uncomfortable. We will deal with them so they should be careful. If they want to do their things, they should move out of Kasoa because we won’t tolerate them. We will make Kasoa an unpalatable place for them. Bring information, let us together rid our society of these miscreants,” he said.
