-

Director of Electoral Services at the Electoral Commission (EC), Benjamin Banor-Bioh, has said the EC has nothing to hide and is not affiliated with any political party.

According to him, the EC’s commitment to conducting elections transparently and successfully.

“Our aim is to ensure that every election is successful. We have no interest in any political party but to do our job in a transparent manner,” he stated.

Mr. Banor-Bioh said this on Adom TV during the launch of Adom Brands’ 100 Days to Elections countdown on Friday August 30, 2024.

He also noted that, a clean voter register is crucial for a smooth election process, contributing to 60 percent of the voting process.

He detailed the EC’s efforts to maintain a solid and clean register, including recruiting over 200 temporary staff to assist in verification and conducting exhibitions to address any issues.

“We have recruited over 200 temporary staff to help ensure that everything is in line. We did the exhibition to make sure everything is clear without any issues.”

Mr. Banor-Bioh reassured that, the EC is working diligently to prevent errors and has appointed electoral officers to support their efforts.

“We are doing a lot of work to ensure that no errors occur. That is why we have electoral officers to aid in our work.”

The EC Director of Electoral Services also addressed concerns about discrepancies, stating that complaints are not widespread and are handled in good faith.

“We have nothing to hide, and whatever complaints any party has, we take in good faith. Complaints of discrepancies are not widespread” he noted.

Mr. Banor-Bioh clarified a common misconception, stating, “The EC does not chase the goats,” to highlight the EC’s focus on its core responsibilities.
