100 Days to Elections Campaign Launch: EC addresses rigging [Listen]

-

Director of Electoral Services at the Electoral Commission (EC), Benjamin Banor-Bioh, has firmly responded to accusations of election rigging.

In his view, the Commission has no intention of manipulating the election results.

In an interview on Adom TV, part of Adom Brands’ 100 Days to Elections countdown launch, Mr. Banor-Bioh addressed critics who allege that the EC might rig the elections.

He described some of these critics as having an agenda to create discord and incite supporters to create mayhem.

“They know very well that we won’t rig elections,” he stressed.

The EC Director of Electoral Services reassured that, political parties are fully aware of what happens at polling stations, stressing that the EC’s processes are transparent.

“After elections at the polling station, everything that happens is known to the political parties. They know what is happening at the polling station, and so we won’t rig the election” he stated.

Mr. Banor-Bioh explained that, the EC will publish results on its website for public and the media.

He also noted that, cameras are installed to ensure transparency and prevent any possibility of rigging.

“There are cameras, and so we can’t rig the election,” he added.

“The EC will maintain the same procedures for compiling and announcing results as in the 2020 elections, and all political parties have observers to monitor the process. “We will maintain the 2020 arrangements for compiling and announcing results,” he said. “All the political parties know the system.”

The ongoing 100 Days to Elections campaign, is aimed at ensuring transparency and informing the public about the electoral process.
