Award-winning Ghanaian dancehall artiste Stonebwoy, born Livingstone Etse Satekla, has revealed that his favourite songs from fellow dancehall act Shatta Wale are Taking Over and Ayoo.

Even though fans consider the two as rivals, Stonebwoy, who has been nominated for Best International Act-Africa at the 2017 BET Awards, does not see it that way.

Several fans of both artistes were at each other on social media after Shatta Wale missed out on this year’s BET Awards, with Stonebwoy getting another nomination for the 2017 Best International Act-Africa Award, an accolade the Go Higher hit singer previously won in 2015.

Asked about his favourite Shatta Wale tracks, Stonebwoy, who is advocating unity on the Ghanaian music scene, told Joy FM’s Doreen Andoh on Tuesday, May 23: “Shatta has done a couple of bangers… This one has caught my ears also, the one with the Sergeant Lee [Taking Over] and the Ayoo too…”

He, however, did not think the “Sergeant Lee” lyrics were aimed at him.

He said he would be interested nonetheless to know who Sergeant Lee referred to.

Stonebwoy will be competing with Wizkid (Nigeria), Davido (Nigeria), Tekno (Nigeria), AKA (South Africa), Nasty C (South Africa), Mr Eazi (Nigeria), and Babes Wodumo (South Africa) for the BET Award this year.
