Three illegal sand winners have been arrested by a joint taskforce from Gomoa East District Assembly of the Central Region Wednesday morning.
Several others are reportedly on the run.
Residents of Gomoa in recent times have been troubled by illegal sand contractors due to the influx of land guards hired by the sand contractors to unleash mayhem on whoever protested their actions.
To express their discontent with recent and past happenings, residents decided to stage a demonstration to drum home their frustration.
Chief of Gomoa Abaasa, Nana Okwadum Atta told Adom News sand winners have destroyed all their lands.
He said all they need is justice, thus, calling on the President, chiefs and elders of the area to help curb the operations of sand winners.
It is with this, that a joint taskforce from Gomoa East Assembly, Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) National Security personnel and police officers stormed their sites and arrested three.
“We need justice and therefore we will not sit down and allow these sand winners to destroy our vision of planting for food jobs. We therefore appealed to President Nana Addo to do something about it else these illegal sand winners will kill his vision of ”Planting for Food and Jobs ” he said.
