The Friday visit by the former Ghanaian leader was to afford him the opportunity to find out about the general wellbeing of the wife and two children of the slain soldier.
Sharing six pictures taken during the visit, Mr Mahama wrote on his Facebook wall hours after the visit, “With my nephews and their mother, Barbara, during a visit to their Burma Camp home.”
The supposedly original post added his visit was to, “find out how they were doing and also give them some money for their upkeep.”
The alleged original post
Within less than five minutes, the post had received several blunt comments for allegedly disclosing the former President gave some money for the family’s “upkeep.”
Some thirty-five minutes later the original post was edited and the part about the money was removed but this did not stop the trolling.
It read, “With my ‘grand’ nephews and their mother, Barbara, during a visit to their Burma Camp home this afternoon to find out how they were doing.”
Baba Musah Kosovo wrote, “Do you necessarily have to tell Ghanaians you gave them money? That’s low. I hope your PA did this and not you, Your Excellency.”
Another by Taufiq Tareeq Noreaga read, “Yeah the money part was a No sir!! You cancelled your deed.”
“You wrote that you gave them money? Wow!! Whoever manages this page needs to be sacked,” wrote Enoch A. Addo also on Facebook.
The post has attracted over 3,309 comments with majority representing criticisms of the supposed part that talked about the money given to the family.
Meanwhile, the former President has not commented on what appears to be a gaffe committed by the one who manages his Facebook page.
