Several female students of the New Juaben Senior High School in Koforidua are on admission at the Koforidua Regional Hospital and the St. Joseph the Worker hospital for suspected food poisoning.

The female students of the school were Sunday night rushed to the two health facilities after some vomited and collapsed.

School authorities are tight-lipped on the matter. It is not yet clear what the students ate together.

However, Regional Education Service PRO Emmanuel Asiedu Acheampong told Adom News there hasn’t been any report of food poisoning or an outbreak.

He is, however, suspecting psychological trauma.

He said even though the GES is awaiting official medical report, its preliminary investigation culled from briefing given by School authorities indicates that, the affected students who were rushed to the hospital were possessed spiritually after a fellowship on campus Sunday Evening.

He, therefore, appealed to the general public to remain calm.

“There hasn’t been any outbreak in the school. The cause could be some form of fear and so no one should think that it’s as a result of food poisoning” he said.
