A group of stoutly built men (machomen) believed to be members of the ruling New Patriotic Party have disrupted a planned press conference by a group calling itself concern Patriots of Yilo Krobo over the appointment of a Municipal Chief Executive for the area.
The men stormed the Nkrukan office of the NPP to scuttle the press conference scheduled to start compelling the organizers to relocate the venue to Otorpkolu.
But the miscreants after getting wind of it, stormed the community again in an attempt to stop the press conference once again and attack the organizers, but the press conference had ended before their arrival.
The Convener of the group, Emmanuel Anuonyam told Adom News Mr. Boakye Agyarko Energy Minister and constituency chairman, Twum Barima are allegedly lobbying for one Mr. Ben Kupualor, a non-Krobo to be imposed on the people as MCE for Yilo Krobo municipality sidelining Mr. Francis Dsetse Apartey, the 2016 Parliamentary candidate who sacrificed his financial resources to contest on the ticket of NPP.
He said the constituency chairman, and his 1st and 2nd Vice Chairmen were voted during their primaries even though they are not Krobo’s, signifying that the party embraces all regardless of tribe.
He is therefore urging the police to take action against the thugs to avoid clashes since they can retaliate in equal measure, a situation which could lead to spillage of blood.
According to the group, they will resist any attempt to impose a non- indigene who is a “stranger” to Krobos in the area on them.
But the Constituency Chairman, Twum Barima when contacted denied the allegation of the party members.
