The Brong Ahafo Regional Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe popularly known as ‘Abronye DC’ has called the bluff of members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) for claiming government is witch hunting Ibrahim Mahama.

Some members of the opposition party including a communicator of the party, Kwaku Boahen have claimed that the Economic and Organised Crimes Office (EOCO) which invited the businessman for questioning last Tuesday is on a witch hunting expedition.

But Abronye DC is of the view that those accusing the government wrongly are ‘witches who ought to be hunted’ and must therefore be sent to the Gambaga Witches camp since they are no different from the alleged witches in the camp.

“I think some politicians especially in the NDC members are witches and should immediately be sent to the Gambaga witch camp because they are no different from them.

“So the NDC members expect the NPP government to laugh because of Ibrahim’s conduct. Just imagine the huge amount of money involved, even the person at the centre of this issue has said he will pay the money and so I don’t understand why those around him are fighting for him.

“A person who does not have the nation at heart has issued dud cheques to an institution which is against the laws of the country.

“Our party is in power now and we have the majority hand in parliament and so if the NDC are not comfortable when people are punished for squandering states money then the majority should make a law that will see to it that all those who are against such act and are always talking about political witch hunting are transferred to the Gambaga witch camp because they are all witches and don’t want the country to move forward” he said.

Abronye DC’s comments follows Mr. Mahama’s invitation by EOCO for questioning over some dud cheques he issued to the Customs division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) at the Tema Ports to clear some heavy duty equipment he imported into the country.

Ibrahim Mahama, who is the brother of former President John Mahama, is at the centre of a headline-grabbing import scandal which has persisted in the media since last week.

On Friday EOCO ordered Mr Ibrahim Mahama, CEO of Engineers and Planners, to pay a sum of GH?12.7 million for the unpaid duties.

He is to make the payment by Monday, May 8, 2017.

He was hauled before the anti-graft agency for purportedly issuing in 2015 post-dated cheques totaling 44 to the Customs Division, being duties for imports of equipment, but which turned out to be dud.

However speaking on Adom FM’s Morning Show “Dwaso Nsem” Monday, the B/A Youth Organiser maintained that Ghanaians who voted massively for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo- Addo have not regretted at all because they believe action speaks louder than words and with him as the man at the helm of affairs they will surely get value for their votes.

According to him, President Akufo Addo will not relent on his efforts to deal with politicians who are causing financial loss to the state.
